INDORE: Madhya Pradesh chief minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has vowed to include the Bhagwad Gita in the state school curriculum. Speaking at the RSS-run Saraswati Vidya Pratisthan, Vamandrishti conclave here, Chouhan asserted that he will push for it ``no matter the opposition’’.
He also asserted that issues related to ``religion, history and culture’’ would also find a place in MP school books.
“Whenever we make an effort to bring changes in the education system, allegations are levelled that we follow a particular ideology and culture. But, no matter how we are criticised in the name of saffronisation, we are poised to ensure that the Bhagwad Gita will be taught in schools,’’ Chouhan said.
Slamming the move, state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria accused Chauhan of pushing the
RSS’s agenda, under pressure.
